Welsh Olympic Trap athlete and 2018 Commonwealth Games Bronze medallist Sarah Wixey won a gold medal in the Women’s Trap Team competition at the recent ISSF World Cup in Osijek.
Sarah was one of a three-athlete team with Kirsty Hegarty and Charlotte Hollands led by British Shooting which beat the Russian Federation team in the Gold Medal Match on July 1st. Sarah also competed in the Women’s Trap competition and narrowly finished in fourth place. Commenting on the successes, WTSF Performance Director John Dallimore MBE said:
“Great results for Sarah at the Osijek World Cup. In her first final Sarah was surrounded by fully funded Tokyo-bound athletes and so securing fourth place was tremendous feat, only missing out on the bronze medal after tying with Jana Spotakova of Slovakia. The following day, with two other GBR athletes, Sarah secured the Gold medal against a strong Russian Team.”
