Coronavirus Updates 19th June

Coronavirus Update – 19th Mehefin

Outdoor facilities can re-open from 22nd June.

The Welsh Government have announced that from Monday 22nd June, outdoor target shooting facilities can reopen with social distancing measures in place. All indoor facilities must remain closed.

The current requirement to stay local and not generally travel more than 5 miles from home remains in place, although this may be lifted in two weeks’ time on 6th July. Therefore, we recommend that facilities use the next two weeks to prepare and test their reopening procedures with persons living within 5 miles and welcome their first visitors from further afield on 6th July if the stay local rule is lifted.

We have updated our document ‘Reopening Outdoor Target Shooting Facilities’ with advice from Public Health Wales. This can be accessed from the downloads section below.

Elite athletes can return to training.

The Welsh Government also announced that amendments will be made to the regulations to enable non-professional elite athletes, such as our Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls, to return to training.

The return to training programme for elite athletes is being co-ordinated by Sport Wales and Commonwealth Games Wales under the banner – Be Patient – Be Ready – Be Safe. Article from Chwaraeon Cymru and document from CGW

Traffic Light System

In his statement today and during questions, the First Minister referenced the traffic light system which was introduced in the Welsh Government publication Unlocking our society and economy: continuing the conversation published last month.

The traffic light system for sport generalises different activities that will be allowed to happen at each phase.

We are currently in the RED phase.
