Coronavirus Update – 9th November

Firebreak Ends, New Restrictions for Indoor and Outdoor Target Shooting

The so called firebreak lockdown coronavirus measures in Wales end on Monday 9th November. New rules for sport come in to force, these are similar to rules seen earlier in 2020. Full details can be found on the Welsh Government website, below are the key points for target shooting facilities in Wales provided in conjunction with advice from Sport Wales.

Outdoor

IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM WELSH GOVERNMENT: Coaches and match officials are included in the numbered limits, however supporting personnel such as managers or organisers are not.

Up to 30 people can take part in organised outdoors activities, but the organisers will need to take all reasonable measures to reduce the risk of spreading the virus. Reasonable measures in target shooting include but are not limited to: wearing masks on outdoor ranges whilst not shooting, extra cleaning and sanitation, strict limits on the flow of visitors and timings between visits, reminders about symptoms and maintaining distance between participants. Children aged under 11 plus those organising the activity are not restricted to the 30 person rule.

Dan do

IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM WELSH GOVERNMENT: Coaches and match officials are included in the numbered limits, however supporting personnel such as managers or organisers are not.

Up to 15 people will be able to take part in an organised indoor group activity, whilst individual indoor exercise is still permissible as before the firebreak. This limit has reduced from 30 as seen earlier this year.

There are two important considerations to note:

  1. Children aged under 11 plus those organising the activity (such as coaches) are not included in the 15 person limit. The number of children aged under 11 who can legally participate is constrained only by the boundaries of the setting (space) and the need for sufficient adults to be present to supervise.
  2. Simultaneous groups of 15 people will be able to take part in organised activities indoors, using the UK Active guidance to determine the maximum capacity for the available setting (space).

Elite Sport

Elite Welsh shooters will be able to restart their activities which were postponed due to the firebreak restrictions. Athletes and coaches are in designated groups managed by the Welsh Target Shooting Federation.
