Coronavirus Update – 15th July 2021

Wales Moves to Alert Level 1 on July 17th

Restrictions for indoor and outdoor events will be eased when Wales moves to Alert Level 1 on July 17th. Organised indoor events will be able to welcome spectators (1,000 seated and up to 200 standing) and up to six people can meet in private indoor spaces. Outdoor premises and events will also have greater flexibility around physical distancing. Organisers must still complete risk assessments and implement reasonable mitigation measures, however the 2m distancing rule need not be followed outdoors if appropriate assessment and mitigation are in place.

The first step towards Alert Level 0 will also be taken on July 17th, there will be no legal limits on numbers of people who can meet at public places or events.

Wales Plans to Move to Alert Level 0 on August 7th

If the Welsh government confirms the move to Alert Level 0 for August 7th, the following relaxations will apply in addition to those made from July 17th. It is important to note that organisers must still conduct risk assessments and implement reasonable mitigation measures, and face coverings in indoor public spaces will also remain a legal requirement.

There will be no legal limits on the number of people who can meet others, including in private homes in addition to the relaxation for public places or at events mentioned above. All businesses and premises will be able to reopen. The reasonable measures to be taken, such as physical distancing and other controls, will be for each organisation to consider depending on the nature of the premises and the risks of exposure to coronavirus identified.
