The Operations and Governance Manager is generally responsible for the day-to-day running of the WTSF and ensuring that the organisation has appropriate governance procedures in line with partner agreements and legal requirements. The Operations and Governance Manager is employed for 3 days per week and is primarily responsible for the WTSF mission to ‘Promote good governance and lead by example’, and two strategic objectives; ‘Implement the Governance Improvement Plan by 2021’ and ‘Create one or more strategic partnerships within Welsh education, health, or sport sectors by 2021’.

Mike has a competitive sporting background in ice hockey and cycling, formal education in sport psychology, and scientific expertise in the use of breathing techniques to perform under pressure. He was previously a sport science consultant for the WTSF and then assistant team manager for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Welsh shooting team. Mike has a strong understanding of WTSF partnerships with funding and sporting organisations and knows how target shooting contributes to both the Vision for Sport in Wales and the objectives in the Wellbeing of Future Generations Act. In his role as Governance and Operations Manager, he is focused on governance improvement and building collaborative relationships with other sporting bodies in Wales and the UK.
