Commonwealth Shooting Federation (European Division) Championships
We have seen great performances by Welsh athletes competing at the CSF(ED). The competition has seen shooters from around Europe battle against each other in various disciplines.
Rifle and Pistol
The 10m Air Rifle and Pistol events took place at the Sport Wales National Centre in the jubilee hall. Welsh shooters James Miller took gold and Alex John took silver in the Men’s individual. While in the women’s individual, Lucy Banner took gold in an excellent close fought final match. Miller and Banner also double their honours by taking gold in the mixed pairs event. This gapped off an excellent day for the pair.
Men’s 10m Air Rifle after a close-fought final, Michael Bamsey took bronze but then went on to win another gold in the rifle mixed pairs with Emily Bale.
50m Rifle events took place at Tondu Target Shooting Club, Michael Bamsey and Mark Parry take silver in the prone. Bamsey continued his amazing day but also taking gold in the 3×20 individual medal.
Shotgun
Shotgun events took place at Griffin Lloyd Shooting Ground.
In Women’s individual Skeet, Georgia Sheppard took silver, she was only 3 points off a gold. The Men’s Olympic skeet was contested throughout but Tony Cox, took a bronze medal.
In the Trap events, Wales come away with plenty of success. Men’s individual Mike Wixey took Gold and Jon Davis took silver. The pair also seen success in the team’s event winning silver.
The women’s trap events continued the success, Sarah Wixey took gold in the individual and then won another gold with Liz Walton James in the pairs event.
Throughout the events the Welsh shooters all performed with passion and excellence and represented Wales to a high standard.
Fullbore Rifle
Full-bore rifle was shot concurrent with the Welsh Open Championships at Bisley over the weekend of 27th and 28th August.
Chloe Evans won the bronze medal with a score of 398.46
Chloe also continued who success with a bronze in the pair’s competition with Theo Dodds. The pair won a bronze medal with a combined score of 793.97.
