Welsh Success at the World Championships

Coming to an end of 2022, the ISSF World championships took place in Osijek, Croatia. The competition, which included senior and junior events in Trap and Skeet will took place from 19th September to the 12th of October and the ISSF World Championships Rifle/Pistol, incorporating the ISSF World Championships Target Sprint, took place in Cairo Egypt, 12th to 25th October,

In Croatia, The GB team included two Welsh athletes.  Georgina Roberts competing in the Women’s trap and Ben Llewellin in the Men’s Skeet.  In the Mixed skeet Team gold event, Gold was secured.

In Egypt, this team included four Welsh athletes, Mike Bamsey 10m Air Rifle Men, James Miller 10m Air Pistol Men, Emily Shawyer Target Sprint Women Junior.

Emily winning the individual silver medal and on the last day brought together Emily and Callum to run the mixed team junior event. Taking the Gold Medal proving how strong the athletes are in this discipline beating off two Italian teams to take the gold medal by over 20 seconds”. The ISSF target sprint medals were presented inside the impressive Olympic International City finals hall.

“It’s been a successful end of year with medals at World Championships, and pleasing to see the representation at the World Championships having athletes at all the Olympic and Commonwealth Games shooting disciplines Olympic Trap and Skeet, ISSF Rifle and Pistol also the ISSF Target sprint event is a tremendous achievement and shows how much hard work and dedication has been made by the athletes”.
