New Performance Pathway Launch

Welsh Shooting are pleased to announce a new look for our performance pathways from August 2026.

In line with Welsh Shooting’s Hit Your Mark Strategy 2026-2030 we are working collaboratively with our associations to deliver pathways for all. This will allow more athletes, in a wider range of shooting disciplines, to access dedicated support, coaching and guidance to allow them to make the most of their shooting journey.

Each association will be coordinating and delivering the practical and core athlete-facing elements of the pathway with centralised support from Welsh Shooting. This is a significant change in the shooting landscape in Wales and will allow a greater number of athletes to access dedicated support and guidance.  These association pathways will be the recognised national pathways for their disciplines in Wales.

Welsh Shooting will not only be supporting the associations directly in their pathway but will be providing direct support to the athletes themselves. This will mainly be delivered from a centralised hub for strength & conditioning, sports psychology and other athlete support services. This exciting new centralised support will be rolled out following the pathway launch.

The new Association Pathway programme will not only continue supporting the disciplines previously included in the Welsh Shooting Pathways but will also introduce opportunities in additional disciplines such as target sprint, sporting (shotgun), Down-the-Line (shotgun), and field target.

These new pathways have been developed from the foundations of our previous centralised pathways and we would like to acknowledge the hard work and commitment of all our previous athletes and supporters

We would particularly like to thank our Performance Coaches for their professionalism, commitment and dedicated service in delivering the Welsh Shooting Performance Pathway. Their hard work, expertise and leadership have played a significant role in supporting athlete development and shaping the programme over many years. Their contribution to shooting in Wales has been greatly valued and appreciated, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact they will continue to have on the sport in Wales in the years ahead.

As the strategy evolves Welsh Shooting will be working closely with our associations to not only evolve the pathways themselves, but to create new foundation opportunities to bring new communities and individuals into shooting sports.
