The way sports clubs apply for National Lottery funding through the Be Active Wales Fund has changed – and it’s good news for shooting clubs within Wales
Starting this year, applications will no longer be accepted all year-round. Instead, Sport Wales has introduced set application windows, ensuring all applicants receive the highest standards of support and service during the funding process.
Window One is officially open from 9am Wednesday 2 April until 4pm Wednesday 4 June 2025.
This funding window is an opportunity for clubs across Wales to secure vital grants for on-field improvements. From essential equipment and coaching courses to venue hire and more, the fund aims to help more people get involved in sport and physical activity.
Clubs Already Benefiting
Numerous clubs have already experienced the impact of Be Active Wales funding. Within the WTSF system over £76000 has been awarded to help with development and delivery of the sport. Some examples are:
-
Haverfordwest Target Shooting Club received funding for improved accessibility, upgraded safety measures, and enhanced lighting—ensuring a safer and more inclusive environment for members of all abilities.
-
Penrhiwpal Shooting Club used their grant to purchase new, modern equipment—helping them grow participation and improve training standards.
These success stories are just a glimpse of what’s possible. If your club has plans to grow, reach more people, or enhance the playing experience, now’s the time to apply.
