STATEMENT ON RETURN TO TRAINING FOR ELITE ATHLETES AND THE RE-OPENING OF CLUBS AND SHOOTING GROUNDS

15th May 2020

In light of the announcements made by UK Sport and British Shooting on a return to Elite training in England, and the advice on re-opening of clubs and shooting grounds made by the CPSA, NRA and NSRA, the Welsh Target Shooting Federation (WTSF) would like to provide clarity on what that means for Target Shooting in Wales.

The following is a statement on behalf of the WTSF by Martin Watkins, Chair of the Board of Management.

The WTSF, as the Welsh Coordinating Body for Target Shooting in Wales, are subject to Welsh Government restrictions as they currently stand. These restrictions currently also apply to the training facilities at Sport Wales National Centre and to Shooting Clubs and Grounds in Wales.

We welcome the release of restrictions in England, as this will enable our colleagues at British Shooting to implement return to training plans for Elite athletes and will enable Shooting Clubs and Grounds across England to re-open under the guidance of the National Associations. We will continue to maintain strong links with them through the existing channels and we will observe their progress over the weeks ahead.

The Welsh Target Shooting Federation will continue to work with Sport Wales, the Welsh Sports Association and Welsh Government on timings for the return of Target Shooting in Wales.
